Modesto, CA 2009
We had the best time Sunday night. I was very excited to see the small band set-up at the front of the stage; having read that Gabe Dixon was opening some of the shows. He was terrific and I bought his CD.
We were stage right, second row, so I knew we'd get to see lots of Kenny ... they always set up their stage in about the same way (same as the 1970's, Kenny on our left, Jim on the right.)
Even more surprising was to find two good friends of ours directly in front of us, with Janie as much an L&M and KL fan as I am. We discovered that we went to many of the same concerts in our SoCal days ... including Kenny's first show after L&M broke up, at Cal State Fullerton.
Our backstage/green room visit was wonderful. There were eight of us in the room when the guys walked in, and I led the group in applause.
After they spoke with two other couples, I pulled out my signs for autographs and they both got a kick out of them.
We spoke for just a minute of two, Kenny's cold/allergies still evident, but I thanked them for putting on such a great show. ~ MikeR
